The Niger Delta Progressive Women Worldwide has called for the immediate removal of Nentawe Yiltawa from his role as minister-designate for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. Led by national coordinator Comrade Miebi Andakuro, the group expressed concerns after Yiltawa’s recent Senate screening, alleging that his comments indicated a northern bias that could marginalize the southern regions of Nigeria.

Andakuro stated, “Statements made by Nentawe during the screening suggest that the southern parts of the country will receive minimal, if any, benefits from the ministry under his leadership.” The group urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to heed their concerns, arguing that a ministry intended to serve the entire nation should not be headed by someone seen as favoring one region.

They proposed that Yiltawa, an engineer, would be better suited for the Ministry of Lands and Housing, where his expertise could be more effectively utilized. Furthermore, Andakuro emphasized that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction would benefit from being led by a woman with substantial experience in humanitarian work, rather than an appointee chosen for political reasons.
