Adoloseimo II Community Denounces False Allegations Circulating on Social Media
The attention of the people of Adoloseimo II Community has been drawn to a malicious and misleading report circulating on social media, falsely alleging that members of our community attacked and killed a man from Kokotoru in the forest.
We wish to state categorically that this allegation is entirely false, unfounded, and misleading. The people of Adoloseimo II are peace-loving and law-abiding citizens who have consistently maintained cordial and respectful relationships with all neighboring communities. At no time has our community engaged in any act of violence or aggression against Kokotoru or any other settlement.
It is important to note that on Tuesday, August 18, 2025, Adoloseimo II suffered a tragic attack carried out by individuals from Kokotoru, which resulted in the loss of lives and multiple injuries. Three persons sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical treatment. Two were declared missing and Of the two individuals initially declared missing, Mr. Abeke Okiriji was later found dead on August 22, 2025, while Mr. Edis Tonwerigha remains missing to date.
Upon careful review of the images of the deceased person being circulated online, there are clear indications that the deceased may have received medical attention prior to death. This raises serious concerns about the authenticity of the claims being used to implicate our community. Furthermore, close observation of the body reveals no visible cut wounds, contradicting the violent narrative being promoted in the circulated images.
We strongly condemn any attempt by individuals or groups from Kokotoru or elsewhere to exploit this unfortunate situation as a cover-up or to maliciously blackmail the people of Adoloseimo II Community.
We therefore call on the Nigerian security agencies and all relevant authorities to launch a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into this matter. Uncovering the truth is essential to preventing the spread of misinformation capable of inciting unnecessary tension between our peaceful communities.
The people of Adoloseimo II remain committed to peace, unity, justice, and mutual coexistence, and we urge the general public to disregard any fabricated reports intended to tarnish our community’s reputation or disrupt harmony in the area.
Signed:
Chief Kowei Kurokokongha D.
The Amananawei of Adoloseimo II
Mr. Digha Akina
