Political Leader in Katsina Admits Role as Bandit Informant, Receives Part of Ransoms
A shocking revelation has emerged involving Aisha Abubakar, a women leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, who has confessed to acting as an informant for bandits. Abubakar admitted to receiving a meager share from the ransoms paid to bandits, including N5000 from a N9 million ransom and a motorcycle.
In a viral interrogation video, Abubakar detailed her involvement in orchestrating the kidnapping of five members of the family of the Tsaiyaya Ward APC chairman. The kidnapped victims included Alhaji Sanusi, his two wives, and three children.
“I was approached by one Zainab, now at large, to provide information on Alhaji Sanusi and the family of the chairman to enable a successful kidnap operation, and I did,” Abubakar confessed. She revealed that after the ransom, which included N9 million and a motorcycle, was paid, she received only N5000. Abubakar noted that she was promised an additional N15,000 after returning from a wedding ceremony in Zaria.
Abubakar also admitted her involvement in a previous cattle rustling operation in Tsaiyaya, which earned her N20,000. “I was also a key informant in the successful cattle rustling in Tsaiyaya some time ago and I got N20,000 from that operation,” she confessed.
Abubakar named other key actors within the Tsaiyaya community, including Yahaya, Audu na Bani, and the children of Bashar, implicating them in the criminal activities.
The confessions have sparked outrage and concern among residents and party members, highlighting the deep-rooted issues of insecurity and corruption in the region. Authorities are reportedly intensifying efforts to apprehend the remaining culprits and ensure justice is served.
