The Yobe State Police Command has arrested two individuals linked to the recent abduction of a 22-year-old woman in Tashan Randa village, Fika Local Government Area.
This was revealed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, who described the development as a major breakthrough in the state’s fight against crime.
According to Abdulkarim, the incident occurred on May 6, 2025, when armed men stormed the home of a resident named Maikudi, kidnapping his daughter and injuring another young woman in the process. The kidnappers later demanded a ransom of N5 million for the victim’s release.

The police, acting swiftly, launched an investigation that led to the successful rescue of the abducted woman and the discovery of the kidnappers’ hideout. Working in collaboration with local hunters, officers arrested two suspects identified as 30-year-old Waiti Bello and 35-year-old Idrissa Adamu. Other accomplices are still at large, but efforts are underway to track them down.
A dane gun and a motorcycle were recovered during the operation. The arrested suspects have reportedly confessed and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ado praised the swift response and joint efforts between the police and local vigilantes, reiterating the command’s dedication to making the state safe. He also called on community members to support law enforcement efforts in tackling crime and maintaining peace.
