The Kano State Police Command has prohibited all Sallah Durbar celebrations across the state ahead of the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr festivities.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori announced the decision at the Bompai Police Headquarters, citing security concerns and potential threats to public order.

According to CP Bakori, intelligence reports revealed that certain groups were planning to use the Durbar as an opportunity to incite unrest. After consulting with the state government and other key stakeholders, authorities concluded that banning the event was necessary to maintain peace.

“In the interest of public safety and to prevent any disruption, security agencies have carefully assessed the risks associated with the Durbar and decided to prohibit all related activities during this year’s Eid-El-Fitr celebrations,” Bakori stated.

He urged worshippers to conduct their Eid prayers at designated locations and follow security guidelines, which include:
– Avoid carrying suspicious objects.
– No horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, or reckless driving.
– Parents should advise their children against engaging in disruptive behavior.

The police also advised the public to avoid any actions that could lead to disorder.

To ensure a peaceful celebration, security personnel will be deployed across the state. CP Bakori called on residents to embrace unity and lawfulness, emphasizing the need for cooperation in maintaining peace and stability.
