PDP: APC Has Failed Ondo, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s Administration Lacks Vision

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Debo Ologunagba, has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC), labeling it a “monumental failure,” and described Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as a “confused individual” without clear plans or programs. He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a fair election on November 16.

In response, Aiyedatiwa urged Ondo residents to support the APC in the upcoming gubernatorial election, claiming that no other party is relevant in the state. He pointed out that many key figures have defected to the APC, stating, “We have torn the umbrella of the main opposition party into shreds.”

Ologunagba dismissed Aiyedatiwa’s comments as “hallucination,” asserting that the governor’s main challenges stem from within the APC itself rather than the PDP, which he described as a “broken home” due to internal discord. He also expressed the PDP’s commitment to participating actively in the election and voiced concerns about the current INEC commissioner in Ondo State, whom the party believes has ties to APC leaders.

Reflecting on Ondo voters, Ologunagba expressed confidence in their determination, stating, “When they make up their minds, they know what to do.” He criticized the APC administration, asserting that Aiyedatiwa lacks a coherent plan and that the PDP believes the public recognizes this “monumental failure.”

On party matters, Ologunagba clarified that there was no official action regarding local government elections in Rivers State, despite some disagreements. He emphasized that no single individual controls the party.

Meanwhile, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the PDP leader in the South-west, asserted that the region would not support the APC in the 2027 general elections, citing economic hardships caused by the ruling party. He noted that the Yoruba people regret their support for President Bola Tinubu in 2023 and that they would reconsider their stance in future elections.

Makinde made these remarks during a campaign rally in Ondo State, stating, “The people of the South-west are wiser now,” and predicted that they would show strong support for the PDP in the upcoming election. His comments were in response to APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje’s claims that the ruling party would strengthen its hold on the region.

The upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State is seen as a key indicator of the political dynamics between the APC and PDP in the South-west, ahead of the 2027 elections.
