Kemien Egbekun, a beneficiary of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) scholarship, has graduated with a remarkable CGPA of 4.77, earning a first-class degree in Law from Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU), Agbara-Otor, Delta State.

Two other PAP-sponsored students, Oladapo Damilola and Toikumo Prosper, also graduated with second-class upper-division honors in Law at the same institution. The trio participated in the university’s 6th convocation ceremony held on September 6, 2024.

From 2016 to 2023, over 60 PAP-sponsored students achieved first-class honors in a variety of competitive fields across partnering universities. Dr. Charles Ariye, Head of Education for PAP, confirmed these impressive results. The disciplines range from electrical/electronics engineering, computer science, civil engineering, and law to petroleum engineering, medical sciences, political science, and chemistry.

While the academic results for 2024 are still being compiled, Egbekun and her peers have added to the growing list of PAP scholars achieving exceptional academic success across a wide array of disciplines.

Meanwhile, the Administrator of the PAP, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has expressed his pride in the academic accomplishments of the scholarship recipients. In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, Otuaro commended the students for their hard work and dedication.

Otuaro emphasized that the impressive academic outcomes of the PAP scholars are a testament to the program’s mission of advancing human capital development in the Niger Delta. He praised the graduates for their outstanding results, noting that their success reflects positively on the Federal Government, the PAP Office, and the Niger Delta region.

He also urged current PAP students in partner institutions to be inspired by the academic excellence of their predecessors, encouraging them to continue this trajectory of success.

Otuaro attributed these achievements to the strong support of President Bola Tinubu, whose “Renewed Hope Agenda” focuses on sustainable peace, stability, and development in the Niger Delta. He expressed gratitude to the President for his unwavering support and commitment to the region’s progress.

“We are thrilled by the remarkable academic performances of PAP scholarship students. Attaining first-class and second-class upper-division honors is no small feat. These accomplishments reaffirm that the PAP is on the right path in fulfilling its mandate,” Otuaro said.

He added that his administration is taking steps to expand scholarship opportunities for deserving students, further strengthening the PAP’s educational and vocational initiatives.

“We must extend our heartfelt thanks to President Tinubu for his strong support of the program and his genuine love for the Niger Delta people. His commitment to the region’s development and stability is deeply appreciated,” Otuaro concluded.
