It was a solemn and emotional moment in Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, as notable Niger Delta leaders, including, but not limited to Barr. Wilson Ajuwa, Barr. Mike Igini, Hon. Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku, Ph.D, Chief Mike Loyibo Esq., Hon. Perez Oloye, and Barr. J.P. Owoupele, gathered to pay their final respects to the legendary nationalist, Chief (Dr.) Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.
Dressed in symbolically elegant Niger Delta attires and with expressions of deep grief, the dignitaries joined thousands of mourners at the final funeral grounds of Pa Clark, whose towering legacy as a fearless advocate for minority rights, regional development, and national unity remains etched in history.
Speaking at the ceremony, Barr. Wilson Ajuwa described Pa Clark as “a father to all and a voice that never wavered in the face of injustice.”
Barr. Mike Igini added, “We have lost a rare gem whose leadership, wisdom, and courage shaped the history of the Niger Delta and beyond.”
The Former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan and Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Hon. Kingsley Kuku recalled how Pa Clark’s mentorship shaped his own journey in leadership, stating, “He was not just a leader but a legend whose words and actions inspired generations.”
The atmosphere was a blend of sorrow and gratitude, as mourners celebrated the impactful life of the Ijaw nationalist, who passed away at the age of 97. Songs of tribute filled the air, while cultural displays and solemn prayers highlighted the depth of his influence.
Pa Clark’s legacy as a fearless defender of justice, a bridge-builder, and a relentless advocate for the Niger Delta cause will continue to inspire future generations.
