The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed over Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s performance after 10 months in office. PDP spokesman Kennedy Peretei declared the governor’s performance a “failure,” pointing out that no construction had begun on several roads despite a N35 billion approval three months ago. He also criticized Deputy Governor Dr. Olayide Adelami for residing at a hotel while over N217 million had been allocated for renovating the Deputy Governor’s Lodge, which was expected to be completed within 12 weeks.

Peretei argued that funds spent on hotel accommodation could have been used for the lodge renovation and questioned the current leadership’s effectiveness in stimulating the local economy.

In response, APC Media Director Steve Otaloro called Peretei’s comments inaccurate and speculative. He asserted that the PDP’s attacks would not hinder Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to the people. Otaloro emphasized the need for constructive policies that benefit citizens rather than political point-scoring, urging the PDP to provide honest and balanced analyses of the state’s progress. He accused the opposition of spreading misinformation driven by a desire for power and encouraged the public to recognize the truth behind the PDP’s claims.
