Ondo varsity appeals to state government for proper funding
The management of Olusegun Agagu University of Technology, Okitipupa, Ondo State, has requested that the state government release funds for the institution’s development. This appeal was made in a statement by Mr. Paul Adeagbo, the Head of Media and Protocols, on Friday.
The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, made this request during an oversight visit by the Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Tertiary Institutions to OAUSTECH last week. He also urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to create a ministry of marine and blue economy to better utilize the state’s coastal resources.
Prof. Ologunorisa highlighted the need for funds to complete ongoing projects and requested the release of the N1 billion allocated in the 2024 budget to finish the long-abandoned School of Science building. While he praised the government for timely salary payments and subventions, he stressed the need for additional funds for infrastructure.
He also mentioned that the National Universities Commission had approved new programs for the university, including petroleum and gas engineering, and chemical engineering, set to begin in the 2024/2025 academic session.
