Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to advancing digital education in Ondo State through the introduction of smart classrooms and technology-driven teaching reforms.
Speaking at the opening of the 69th National Council on Education (NCE) meeting in Akure, the governor said the state government was prioritising investments in digital infrastructure to transform the education sector and align it with global standards.
Represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that Ondo State has long been recognised for its commitment to innovation, excellence, and human capital development.
“Education remains the most powerful tool for social, economic, and technological progress,” he stated. “Our government understands that quality education is at the heart of sustainable development. This conviction continues to guide our reforms and policies in the sector.”
He explained that the government’s ongoing initiatives include the gradual rollout of smart classrooms, digital literacy training, and technology-based learning systems to equip students with 21st-century skills.
“We are investing in digital education infrastructure to enhance access, quality, and relevance in our schools. Our learners must be ready for the knowledge-driven economy of the modern world,” the governor added.
Addressing the conference theme, “Quality Education Data and Professionalisation of Teaching: Tools for Enhanced National Development,” Aiyedatiwa highlighted the vital role of teachers in shaping the nation’s future.
Also speaking at the event, Abel Enitan, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, emphasised that the professionalisation of teaching has become a national priority aimed at improving learning outcomes.
“Teachers must be well-trained, properly supported, and adequately rewarded,” Enitan said. “When educators feel valued, they inspire students to value learning — and that is how great nations are built.”
The event was attended by key education stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun; Chairman of SUBEB, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Chairman of TESCOM, Dr. Oludaisi Oke; and several traditional rulers.
