EDWIN CLARK: THE DEMISE OF A NATIONALIST—A HUGE NATIONAL LOSS
Beyond his immediate family, the passing of Pa (Senator) Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, is indeed a profound loss to the entire Federal Republic of Nigeria. A lawyer with decades of experience and a staunch pan-Ijaw nationalist, Pa Clark was a vocal advocate for the people of the Niger Delta. His contributions as both a minister and a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria remain indelible.
Undoubtedly, Pa Clark zealously safeguarded his immediate community by providing grassroots-oriented leadership. A man who never lost touch with the home front, his unwavering commitment to advancing the Ijaw cause—both nationally and internationally—will continue to inspire generations of leaders.
While some may have labelled him an ethnic chauvinist or a regional champion, Pa Clark provided an astute compass for national development and growth. He stood firm when Nigeria needed voices of reason to uphold its unity—truly, a nationalist in every sense. His demise has left a gaping void that will take time to fill.
