Ondo polls: Ganduje appoints 305 members in campaign council
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, had inaugurated a 305-member National Campaign Council for the upcoming November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo State. The council is led by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris serving as Deputy Chairman 1 and Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu as Deputy Chairman 2. Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege will act as the council’s secretary.
During the inauguration held at The Dome in Akure, Ganduje emphasized the party’s ambition to secure all six states in the southwest region. He noted that with President Bola Tinubu from the southwest, the best way to show appreciation was to build a strong APC presence in the area to ensure electoral victories.
Ganduje expressed confidence that the APC would soon dominate the South-West and stressed the importance of collaboration between the national campaign council and the Ondo State Council to achieve success in the governorship election. He stated, “The national campaign council will strengthen the governor’s campaign efforts, helping us retain Ondo State for the APC through democratic means.”
Sanwo-Olu announced various heads for subcommittees, including Chief Bisi Akande and several other governors, and committed to running an issue-based campaign. He expressed gratitude to the President for establishing the council and assured that they would conduct a smooth campaign focused on Aiyedatiwa’s capabilities.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is the APC candidate, described the council’s formation as a significant boost to the party’s election efforts. He asserted that the APC possessed qualities lacking in rival parties, such as unity, vision, and a strong commitment to serve the people.
Aiyedatiwa thanked the citizens of Ondo State for their continued support and emphasized the importance of listening to their feedback throughout the campaign. He expressed confidence that the party would secure a victory on November 16.
Earlier, APC state chairman Ade Adetimehin highlighted the people’s readiness to re-elect Aiyedatiwa and mentioned the unity among party members, noting that opposition parties were becoming anxious about the overwhelming support for the APC candidate. He assured that they would coordinate effectively to demonstrate their commitment to the party leadership and achieve electoral success.
