The Ilaje Council of Obas in Ondo State has declared that it will not support the creation of the proposed Ijebu State, nor will it be part of any other states suggested for areas east or west of Ilaje land. The monarchs emphasized that Ilaje will remain a united and indivisible entity, with no parts separated, except for the possible creation of more local governments or administrative units within the same state.

This stance was outlined in a communiqué issued after a meeting of the Ilaje Obas in Igbokoda, signed by the Chairman, Oba Olusegun Williams Akinyomi, the Amapetu of Mahin. The communiqué urged both the Ondo State and Federal Governments to ensure the safety of the Ilaje people. It also called on officials, including security agencies, to stop making false territorial claims on behalf of Ogun State, warning against creating unnecessary conflicts. The communiqué specifically noted that the extension of Ijebu or Ogun State authority over Irokun had been rejected by the Irokun Obas.
