Ondo govt earmarks N500 million soft loan for market women
The Special Adviser on Gender Matters to Ondo State Governor, Olamide Falana, said the state government has earmarked N500 million as a loan for market women.
Ms Falana stated this on Monday in Akure at the Ondo State APC Women Mega rally in support of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s aspiration.
Mr Aiyedatiwa is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 16 governorship election.
The special adviser, who urged the women to vote for Mr Aiyedatiwa in the election, said the governor has passion for them.
Ms Falana, who highlighted various policies and programmes of Mr Aiyedatiwa in the last 10 months, commended the governor’s approach to governance.
She said, “Vote Governor Aiyedatiwa, a man who has done so much for Ondo State and even much more for our women. You would agree with me that within 10 months of getting to the office, the governor has done so much to reciprocate the love that women are showing him today. The governor has earmarked N500 million as a microcredit loan to market women. And that is really iconic because this is also another way of ensuring that the commerce of the state is optimum.’’
According to her, the governor is doing so much in ensuring that schools are well equipped and teachers are also motivated.
She added that the governor had approved money for clearing of farmlands to ensure an abundant food supply.
Ms Falana said that the governor believed in women and it was the reason he appointed women into various positions.
Also speaking, Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Folasade Tibubu-Ojo, encouraged women to come out en masse and vote for Mr Aiyedatiwa.
Ms Tinubu-Ojo said that Mr Aiyedatiwa appointed many women into various positions, allowing them to manifest their capacities.
Similarly, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lola Fagbemi, urged women to vote for APC, asking them to get their voter cards to enable them to vote.
Ms Fagbemi promised that Mr Aiyedatiwa would provide a more responsible government that would cater for women in the state.
In her remarks, the Deputy Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Bolaji Olagbaju, assured the women that the Aiyedatiwa-led government would give them more hands to operate.
