Ondo Auto crash, 16 dead
An auto accident in Ajue village, along the Ore-Ondo route in Ondo state, claimed the lives of sixteen people who were burned to death. Two people are said to have fled unharmed, and three more people suffered significant injuries. According to reports, at approximately 8 o’clock at night, the two vehicles involved a Toyota bus and a truck went up in flames, leaving the victims severely burned.
The eyewitness claimed that one of the drivers made a risky overtake, which caused a head-on accident that caused the two cars to catch fire. According to the source, there was a fire because one of the drivers may have left fuel in his car. Ibitoye Samuel, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) Ondo Sector Commander, confirmed the occurrence when contacted and stated that the rescue effort was completed at approximately 11 p.m. According to Ibitoye, the accident’s cause is still being investigated.
He said, “The preliminary inquiry revealed reckless overtaking and excessive velocity. He urged drivers to use defensive driving techniques rather than arguing that they are correct. Over speeding has been recognized by Ibitoye as a primary cause of accidents on Nigerian roadways. The body had been brought to Ondo town’s State Specialists Hospital mortuary.
