Ondo APC Celebrates Late Governor Akeredolu on 68th Posthumous Birthday
The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) commemorates the 68th posthumous birthday of former governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu. The APC Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, announced in a press statement on Sunday that Akeredolu, who was also a past president of the Nigerian Bar Association, passed away on December 27, 2023, after a prolonged battle with cancer.
The party highlighted some of Akeredolu’s significant achievements, notably the establishment of the Amotekun security network aimed at protecting the state’s residents from external threats and his vigorous push for industrialization. They also mentioned the ongoing construction of the flyover bridge in Akure under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the completed interchange in Ore on the busy Benin-Sagamu Road, which has significantly reduced accidents and improved traffic flow.
Akeredolu was credited with the first dual carriageway in Akoko land and the removal of Oke Alabojuto, a notorious accident site. His administration addressed unpaid salaries and liabilities and tackled unemployment in state agencies and departments.
His contributions spanned various sectors, including health, education, and road infrastructure. As Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum and a vocal advocate for justice, fair play, and true democracy, Akeredolu was highly regarded.
The statement concluded with the Ondo APC expressing admiration for Akeredolu’s integrity and leadership, celebrating his legacy and praying for his eternal peace. “Happy posthumous birthday, sir,” the statement read.
