Abuja — Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Monday convened an emergency security meeting in Abuja following U.S. President Donald Trump’s incendiary remarks threatening possible American military intervention in Nigeria.
The high-level session, held at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), brought together the nation’s service chiefs and heads of intelligence agencies to evaluate the implications of Trump’s threat and craft a unified national response.
According to top security sources, the emergency meeting was convened to “coordinate intelligence assessments, evaluate potential security consequences, and reinforce Nigeria’s sovereignty in the face of Trump’s statement.”
“The meeting is focused on impact assessment, contingency planning, and strengthening our national position in light of the statement attributed to the U.S. President,” a senior security official told counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama.
