The Ondo State Police Command has issued a strong warning against any attempts to observe the so-called “July 7 cultism day,” asserting that such gatherings will not be allowed anywhere in the state.

Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams Lawal, delivered this message during a press briefing at the State Police Headquarters, stressing that the Command will not permit any unlawful gatherings, particularly those tied to the notorious 7/7 date, which cult groups have previously used for initiations and violent acts.

“This Command will not tolerate any form of cult activity or related gathering. Anyone planning or participating in such events will face the full weight of the law,” Lawal warned.

He also urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to keep a close watch on their children and wards, and to discourage any involvement with groups that may pose a threat to public peace or safety before, during, or after the 7/7 date.

The commissioner highlighted several achievements under his administration, including dismantling criminal gangs and recovering stolen goods and livestock worth millions of naira. He credited these successes to the enhanced use of technology such as surveillance systems, digital tracking, and forensic analysis.

“With the integration of intelligent systems and advanced policing tools, we’ve significantly increased our capacity to identify, monitor, and disrupt criminal activities,” Lawal noted.

He called on the public to remain vigilant and supportive, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in keeping communities safe. “Through sustained cooperation with residents and ongoing investment in modern policing methods, we are committed to maintaining peace and security across Ondo State,” he concluded.
