Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have climbed to 8th place in the latest FIBA Women’s World Rankings.

The impressive ranking comes on the back of their record-extending seventh AfroBasket title, with the 2025 victory marking their fifth consecutive championship win. Their unmatched dominance in African women’s basketball has also secured them a place at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.

Elsewhere in the rankings, Great Britain dropped two places to 22nd, while Belgium broke into the top five after winning the EuroBasket Women title. South Sudan emerged as the biggest climber, leaping 31 spots to 55th.

The USA remains the number one women’s basketball team in the world.
