President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced new restrictions on the official convoys of federal ministers, ministers of state, and heads of government agencies. In a directive issued on Thursday, the President has limited these officials to a maximum of three vehicles for their official convoys. No additional vehicles will be assigned to them.

The directive also specifies that each minister and agency head is allowed a maximum of five security personnel, comprising four police officers and one officer from the Department of State Services (DSS).

This move is part of Tinubu’s broader strategy to reduce government expenditures. Earlier this year, in January, the President took significant steps to minimize the size of his entourage during official trips, cutting the number of officials accompanying him abroad from 50 to 20. For local trips, the entourage was reduced to 25 officials. Furthermore, the Vice President’s entourage has also been trimmed to five officials for international trips and 15 for domestic travels.

Tinubu’s administration aims to foster a culture of accountability and financial prudence within the government while enhancing the efficiency of public service operations.
