Under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government is making bold moves to reposition Nigeria’s oil and gas sector through strategic investments and international collaborations. This was disclosed by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri Ph.D., as he prepares to address global stakeholders at the 9th OPEC International Seminar in Vienna this July.
Speaking ahead of the high-level summit themed “Charting Pathways Together: The Future of Global Energy,” Senator Lokpobiri emphasized that the current administration is deliberately creating a conducive environment for sustainable growth in the energy sector.
“These efforts are not only designed to revitalize our energy landscape but also to guarantee national prosperity for Nigerians and mutual prosperity for our global investment partners,” he stated.
The minister noted that the upcoming seminar presents an invaluable opportunity for Nigeria to reaffirm its commitment to a secure and inclusive global energy future. With Africa’s persistent energy deficit still a pressing concern, Nigeria is positioning itself as a key player in addressing this gap.
“By fostering increased investment in our oil sector, Nigeria is asserting its role as a critical driver in the effort to close Africa’s energy gap and contribute meaningfully to global energy security,” Lokpobiri added.
The OPEC International Seminar is expected to bring together heads of state, ministers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to explore collaborative solutions for the evolving global energy landscape.
