Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has dismissed speculations about a possible return to the Presidential Villa, insisting she has no desire to return to power.

Speaking in a recent interview, Mrs Jonathan emphasized that she now values her peace of mind above political influence, stressing that Nigeria’s challenges are overwhelming.

“The distress of Nigeria is so much that if God manages to bring you out of it, you should glorify Him. Why do you want to go back there? I need peace. My peace is enough,” she stated.

Her remarks come amid growing speculation that her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, may contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Earlier, Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga cautioned Jonathan against bowing to calls to return to the race, reminding him of his 2015 defeat.

Despite mounting pressure and political maneuverings, the former president has yet to make an official declaration concerning his 2027 ambitions.
