Nigeria Lurches on The Precipice: Government Failure Exacerbates Youth Unemployment, Poverty, and Economic Destitution
In a scathing indictment of the government’s ineptitude, the Obidient Harmonization Committee (OHC) has lambasted the administration’s egregious failure to address the burgeoning crises of youth unemployment, poverty, food inflation, and fuel price increases.
“The government’s torpor and lack of efficacious policies have precipitated a catastrophic convergence of socio-economic woes, imperiling the very fabric of our nation,” declared by Comrade Joseph Enan Maigari, National Chairman of the OHC.
Their press statement read partly:
“The current administration’s failure to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and ensure food security has led to soaring youth unemployment rates, deepening poverty and inequality, skyrocketing food prices, and crushing fuel price increases.”
The OHC further excoriates the government for its “laissez-faire attitude” and demands immediate redress, including:
1.”A paradigm shift in economic policy to prioritize job creation, education, and infrastructure development.
2. The implementation of poverty reduction programs to ameliorate the suffering of vulnerable populations.
3. A multifaceted approach to address food inflation, including agricultural production, import substitution, and food distribution.
4. The reversal of fuel price increases and exploration of alternative energy sources.”
The committee also castigates state governors for their “dereliction of duty,” stating:
“Governors should not merely acquiesce to increased FAAC allocations without addressing the economic challenges in their states, particularly youth unemployment and food inflation.”
“Nigerians deserve better. We will continue to hold the government accountable and push for policies that benefit the people, not just the privileged few.” Said, the Obidient Harmonization Committee.
