The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has initiated a two-day workshop titled “Wage Administration, Policies Implementation and Revenue Generation in the Public Service.” The event underscores the importance of effective wage management and policy adherence in fostering economic growth and development within the public sector.

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director/CEO of NDDC, highlighted the significance of wage administration in the current national discourse. He emphasized that since the establishment of the current Board, staff welfare has been a primary focus. “This workforce must be equipped with skills, knowledge, and motivation provided by sustainable living wages to drive the commission’s efforts in fulfilling its mandate for the region,” Dr. Ogbuku stated. His remarks underscored the commitment to ensuring that employees are adequately compensated and motivated to contribute effectively to the commission’s objectives.

Mr. Ekpo Nta, Chairman/CEO of the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, presented an in-depth analysis of the subject. He stressed that organizations, including NDDC, would significantly benefit from leadership driven by ethics and integrity. “The structures supporting genuine ethical conduct must be situated in a fair rewards system, and access to minimum acceptable standards that provide a decent livelihood to citizens should be emulated,” he asserted. Mr. Nta’s insights highlight the need for ethical leadership and fair compensation practices to ensure organizational effectiveness and social equity.

The workshop aims to enhance the understanding and implementation of wage policies, which are crucial for achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life for public service employees.
