Navy provides free medical care to 2000 persons in Ondo
The Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base in Igbokoda, Ondo State, has provided free medical services to over 2,000 residents of Bolowo community in the Ese Odo Local Government Area. The outreach, which began on Saturday, included routine medical check-ups, medication distribution, health education, insecticide-treated net giveaways, free medicated glasses, and child vaccinations. The initiative was a joint effort with Galaxy Security Agency.
Capt. Aliyu Usman, the Commanding Officer of FOB Igbokoda, stated that the program was part of the Nigerian Navy’s Corporate Social Responsibility to support host communities. He noted that the outreach addressed the community’s health needs, promoted development, and encouraged cooperation in intelligence sharing to combat criminal activities in the waterways.

He added that similar programs would be carried out in other riverine areas.
He urged the community to support the Navy’s efforts to maintain security and promote development in the maritime region. “This outreach will not end here,” Usman said, expressing the intention to continue supporting other communities with health services and developmental projects. He called for community cooperation to ensure effective maritime security.
