Political stakeholders in Warri Federal Constituency have intensified calls for High Chief Promise Lawuru, Chief Executive Officer of Bon Hotel De Tranquil, and Ozigizaga security Network Services, to contest the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general elections.

The appeal was made by the Warri Federal Constituency Progressive Forum (WFCPF), a political advocacy group comprising leaders and representatives from Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas.

The call emerged during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Monday and monitored by GbaramatuVoice, where traditional leaders, politicians, clerics, women and youth representatives gathered to discuss the political future of the constituency.

Among those spearheading the forum are Chief Madam Onome Okumagba representing the Urhobo community in Warri South, Panama Gabriel Panama from Warri South-West, Barrister Bawl Wesley Edema of Warri North, Chief Markson Aghokigho Igiegie of Warri South, and the forum’s Secretary, DCN Godpower Benakiegha.

In a communique signed by the forum’s chairman, Chief Markson Aghokigho Igiegie, the group said Warri Federal Constituency requires energetic and people-focused leadership capable of advancing development and expanding opportunities for residents.

The forum stressed that worsening economic realities within the constituency demand a representative who can actively pursue legislation and programmes that address unemployment, poverty and economic empowerment across the three Warri councils.

During the meeting, the group also praised the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what they described as impactful governance in the state.

We wholeheartedly salute the governor and pass a vote of confidence in his leadership,” the forum declared.

The stakeholders equally acknowledged the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and appreciated the contributions of both past and present lawmakers who have represented the constituency.

Reacting to the request, Lawuru thanked members of the forum and residents of the constituency for the confidence they had shown in him.

You informed me that there was an urgent meeting and requested that I come. Having listened to you today, I have heard clearly your appeal asking me to contest for the House of Representatives,” he said.

However, he explained that he would need time to consult widely before deciding whether to accept the call.

I will respectfully ask that you give me some time to consult my friends, political leaders and members of my family before I respond formally,” he added.

Political observers believe the appeal to Lawuru may trigger fresh alignments and debates within Warri Federal Constituency as political actors gradually begin positioning for the 2027 elections.
