Nanotech: VXL to tackle infrastructure within Niger delta
In a significant effort to tackle infrastructure challenges in the Niger Delta, VXL Nigeria Ltd has introduced its innovative nanotechnology solutions for road construction to Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh.
In a statement released by his media assistant, Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, the minister expressed excitement about the technology’s potential to address the region’s environmental issues.
During the presentation led by Sambhav Kothari, VXL Nigeria Ltd showcased its successful partnership with Lagos State since 2009, highlighting the effectiveness of their nanotechnology in various road projects.
The company outlined the key benefits of its nanotech products, including enhanced road durability through better soil consolidation, moisture resistance, and reduced expansivity—qualities that make it particularly suitable for the Niger Delta’s challenging terrain and heavy rainfall.
Minister Momoh emphasized the urgent need for sustainable infrastructure in the region and raised critical questions regarding the long-term benefits and cost-effectiveness of the proposed solutions. He stressed the necessity for any adopted technology to endure the region’s unique conditions and align with the ministry’s goals for durable road infrastructure.
“Your presentation has been very enlightening. Given the specific challenges we face in the Niger Delta, especially with roads affected by poor soil and frequent flooding, it’s essential to explore new technologies like this. I believe a trial project would be beneficial to assess how your solutions can tackle these issues,” Momoh stated.
VXL Nigeria Ltd expressed its willingness to work with the Ministry of Niger Delta Development on a pilot project, confident that its nanotechnology could greatly enhance the lifespan and durability of roads in the region.
As the meeting wrapped up, both parties agreed to continue discussions on conducting a trial to evaluate the effectiveness of nanotechnology in real-world road construction projects across the Niger Delta. This initiative represents a hopeful step toward improving infrastructure in the region, aiming for better, more resilient roads capable of withstanding the unique environmental challenges.
