A spine-tingling incident has left Oba-Oke community in Olorunda Local government area of Osun state reeling, where a 50-year-old herbalist, Kehinde Ganiyu, has been arrested by the Nigerian police for the brutal murder of his friend, Emmanuel Collins, in a money ritual. The horrific crime was committed on a sick bed.

According to the Osun Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, Ganiyu slit Collins’ throat to create ritual soap for internet fraudsters, known as “Yahoo boys.”

The suspect’s confession has revealed a dark web of ritualistic practices and deceit.

“I used to perform rituals for individuals involved in internet fraud, but they are the ones who bring human parts,” Ganiyu said in an interview.

“I went to visit my friend, Emmanuel Collins, because he was ill. While he was in bed, I took a knife and cut his throat.I used the body part to make ritual money soap for Yahoo boys.”

The police were informed of the incident on July 18, 2024, and swiftly launched an investigation, which led to Ganiyu’s arrest.

A search of the suspect’s premises yielded a disturbing array of items, including four blood-stained knives, a pot of black soap, a traditional tray known as ‘Opon Ifa’, a wooden box, two sponges, and various local charms.

Ganiyu’s actions have sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing outrage and disbelief.

The suspect’s attendance at Collins’ burial, where he offered condolences and support to the grieving family, has been described as a chilling display of deception.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of ritualistic practices and the importance of upholding the law.

As the investigation continues, many are left bewildering how such a heinous crime could have occurred, and what further dark secrets may be lurking in the shadows.
