Nigeria’s Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, led a solidarity walk with Ondo State youths to rally support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The walk, which took place from Ilesha Garage through Oyemekun-Oba Adesida Road to Alagbaka, involved campaigning to residents, motorcyclists (commonly known as okada riders), traders at Oja Oba (Oba Market), and pedestrians.

Speaking to the media after the walk, Olawande emphasized that the event was meant to demonstrate the unity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure, the state capital, and the youths’ commitment to voting for Aiyedatiwa. He expressed confidence that Akure would deliver significant votes for the governor.

Olawande acknowledged the current economic hardships but framed them as the result of necessary decisions made by President Bola Tinubu to improve the country’s future. He assured that despite the challenges, the people of Ondo State, particularly the youth, were fully behind Aiyedatiwa, who he described as a youthful and responsive leader with the interests of the state’s young people at heart. Olawande also noted the peaceful nature of the campaign, pointing to the absence of violence and the positive atmosphere surrounding the election, scheduled for the 16th of the month.
