Tensions have escalated in Rivers State as the militant group, Niger Delta Rescue Movement (NDRM), issued a stern warning to the Federal Government, demanding the immediate release of the state’s allocation or risk a complete shutdown of oil production.
The group also advised non-indigenes to prioritize their safety and leave the state, warning that hostilities were about to intensify.
NDRM declared that unless the Federal Government and other key stakeholders took immediate steps to resolve the ongoing crisis, it would take action to disrupt the country’s oil production if the state’s allocation was not released on time.

This development follows the Supreme Court’s ruling on Friday, which upheld the decision of a lower court to withhold Rivers State’s allocation until a properly constituted House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, is in place.
