An Ondo State Magistrate Court in Akure has ordered the detention of a 23-year-old tailor, Faith Adeola, in police custody over the alleged murder of Gbenga Olotu.
Adeola was apprehended by officers of the state police command for reportedly stabbing Olotu to death during a disagreement about a missing stabiliser. The incident occurred on May 8, 2025, in the Ikese area of Oka-Akoko, located in Akoko North-West Local Government Area.
He was brought before the court on a single count of murder. According to the charge, Adeola allegedly stabbed the victim, also known as “Zagazar,” in the chest and struck him with a wooden object, actions that reportedly led to Olotu’s death. The offence is said to violate Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

Although Adeola pleaded not guilty, the court did not accept his plea. The prosecuting counsel, Folashade Adeyemi, requested that the suspect be held in custody pending the advice of the state’s Director of Public Prosecution.
Magistrate R.I. Adelakin granted the request and scheduled the next hearing for May 29, when the court will consider the remand application and give a ruling.
