LG Poll: ODIEC Distributes Non-Sensitive Materials Ahead of January 18 Elections

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has commenced the distribution of non-sensitive materials to all 18 local government areas as part of its preparations for the local government elections scheduled for January 18, 2025.

Among the items distributed are ballot boxes and other essential materials, according to a statement issued by the Press Officer of ODIEC, Mrs. Bisi Lawani.

The Chairman of the commission, Dr. Joseph Aremo, revealed in the statement that the electoral body has successfully recruited and trained ad-hoc staff for election day duties. He noted that ODIEC has also engaged key stakeholders critical to the success of the elelections.

Dr. Aremo confirmed that all non-sensitive materials required for the polls have been delivered to ODIEC offices in the 18 local government areas. Additionally, he assured the public of the commission’s collaboration with security agencies to ensure the safety of election materials.

Reiterating ODIEC’s commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, transparent, peaceful, and inclusive elections, Dr. Aremo urged the electorate to turn out in large numbers on election day to exercise their civic rights and strengthen the democratic process.

He also called on political parties, candidates, and their supporters to maintain peace and abide by the rules of engagement throughout the election period.

The local government elections in Ondo State are anticipated to draw significant attention as stakeholders prepare to participate in this grassroots democratic exercise.
