Kidnapping Ends in Violent Shootout: Pastor Rescued, Innocent Worker Cleared
In a dramatic turn of events, a pastor was kidnapped by a group of individuals shortly after Gbelebu. While attempting to escape with their captive, the kidnappers were ambushed by a group of vigilant hunters and local vigilante members. The confrontation resulted in the deaths of two kidnappers on the spot, while three managed to flee the scene.
Our sources reveal that the fleeing suspects arrived in Akotogbo to meet a family relative who works as a timber worker in the community and who was not part of their criminal activities. Shortly thereafter, security forces arrested the three fugitives along with Mr. Agbojule Kibegha, a timber worker who had no involvement in the kidnapping.
Through the concerted efforts of the Akotogbo community members and the security agency, Kibegha was later exonerated and released. The community expressed relief at his release while condemning the actions of the kidnappers.
Controversy arose when pictures of the suspects, including Kibegha, were posted publicly without any explanation, causing confusion and concern among the community members. It was later clarified that the arrested individuals were known as Ajapa boys, a detail that emerged as the investigation progressed.
The security agency has assured the public that further investigations are ongoing to ensure justice is served and the remaining suspects are apprehended.
The community of Akotogbo remains vigilant and cooperative with law enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future. The swift action by the hunters, vigilante members, and security forces highlights the importance of community involvement in maintaining safety and order.
