KADUNA ABDUCTION: CHERUBIM AND SERAPHIM URGES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO TACKLE INSECURITY
The Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria has called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to address the rising insecurity in the country following the abduction of more than 160 worshippers in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The appeal was made during a world press conference held ahead of the church’s 2026 Annual General Conference. The leadership of the church described the abduction, which occurred during a Sunday service on January 18, as a painful national concern that requires urgent action.
The church urged the Federal Government to strengthen the Armed Forces by providing modern equipment and improved operational capacity to effectively combat kidnapping and other security threats.
It was disclosed that about 151 members of the church remain in captivity after being abducted at Wali community in Kajuru LGA. While acknowledging the ongoing efforts of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to address security challenges, the church stressed that the recent spike in kidnappings demands more decisive intervention.
In response to the situation, the church revealed that it is working with its state chapters to relocate worship centres from remote and vulnerable areas to safer locations. It is also engaging through its membership in the Christian Association of Nigeria to advocate for stronger security measures nationwide.
Meanwhile, the forthcoming Annual General Conference, themed “An Unhidden City” (Matthew 5:14), is scheduled to hold from January 29 to February 1 at Saviour’s Ministries (C&S), Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The conference is expected to feature plenary teaching sessions, leadership and ministers’ forums, youth and women empowerment programmes, prayer and intercession sessions, as well as strategic discussions on the church’s future beyond its centenary.
