In a decisive move to strengthen its legislative influence and public affairs strategy, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has announced a key appointment to its executive team.
The Council has officially named a new Special Assistant to the President on Parliamentary Matters and Public Affairs, Comrade Icon Tam-James, who served the council as a Clan representative in the Comr. Peter Igbifa’s led national executive, signaling a renewed drive to project Ijaw youth interests across political and civic platforms.
The announcement was made in a formal notice signed by Rt. Hon. Ijonama Mkpon, Chief of Staff to the IYC President, and fully endorsed by Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri (Snr), President of the IYC Worldwide.
It’s hailed as a strategic step in re-engineering the IYC’s policy engagement and advocacy structure. According to insiders, the appointee is expected to immediately begin high-level interface with parliamentary stakeholders and spearhead the Council’s public affairs initiatives.
The Ijaw Nation and indeed all well-meaning Niger Delta stakeholders await the unfolding impact of this appointment, as the IYC continues to chart a bold course for youth empowerment, regional development, and credible leadership.
