Ayo Omotayo, the director-general, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos, says Nigeria will soon overcome its current challenges.

Mr Omotayo, who said this in a message to commemorate the 2024 independence day celebrations, added that the challenges were minor setbacks.

In the message issued by Sola Adeyanju, the head, public affairs department and advancement office of the institute on Tuesday in Jos, Mr Omotayo said the federal government was doing its best towards improving the lot of Nigerians.

He listed some of the areas receiving prompt attention as insecurity, agriculture, education and economic development.

He added that ‘as a people and country, we have had our ups and downs, but what is important is our resolve to move on in the face of daunting situations and circumstances.

“We have had cause to change governments from time-to-time as enshrined in our Constitution, and this time around, the lot has fallen on the laps of President Bola Tinubu.

”Since the inception of the administration, we have witnessed sincere attempts to reform different aspects of our national life; while it is not yet ‘eldorado’, we are hopeful that our country will rise again and stand up tall in the comity of nations.

“As the saying goes, tough times don’t last, tough people do; it is our strong belief that with continued resilience, unwavering determination, unity of purpose and deep patriotism, we shall together continue to build a country of our dream, which our unborn children can be proud of.

“So, we call on the government not to rest on its oars and enjoin all Nigerians to keep hope alive and renewed.”

The director-general maintained that NIPSS would continue to develop policies that would help the federal government alleviate the current hardships in the country.

He called on Nigerians to support the government’s efforts towards securing a better and glorious future for the nation.
