The official inauguration ceremony, which took place at the palace hall on 5th January 2025, was attended by dignitaries, traditional leaders, Royal Family and members of the press. The inauguration of the media team re-affirms His Imperial Majesty’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and community engagement.

The new Media Team is expected to provide an unbiased potent royal platform for the palace to project its activities, programmes, and initiatives with the public. The media team will also serve as a channel for the palace to receive feedback from the community.

While giving his keynote address, His Royal Majesty, Pere Zacchaeus Duobra Egbenu (JP), Opukutu III, The Paramount Ruler of Arogbo-Ijaw Kingdom stated the significance of effective and efficient communication. His remarks read in part…”As we pilot the affairs of the Kingdom, we recognise the need to align our operations with this shrinking and fast-paced world; leveraging on new technology to enhance our communication,…” he said.

While admonishing the members of the Media Team, His Imperial Majesty enjoined the members to be diligent and pay attention to details without fare or favour. “To the new members, aside, Palace engagements, you are expected to project and promote the cultural heritage of the Kingdom, therefore, carry out your duties as expected. While you are reporting objectively, remember that, cross-cutting edge thoughts and ideas are sine qua non to the progress and growth of the Media Team”. He added.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the media crew, the Coordinator, Hon. Doyen Belite Ejuwa expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His Imperial Majesty and pledged the readiness of the team to provide excellently valuable services to the Kingdom.

The inauguration ceremony of the Royal Media Team also featured the presentation of the appointment letters to the new members.

The Palace Media Team is expected to commence full operations immediately after the inauguration.
