High Chief Sylvester Sofiyegha Ayebi, the Head of the Ondo Liaison Office of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), alongside Mrs. Esther Boro, Head of the Bayelsa Liaison Office, PAP, stood among the distinguished personalities who gathered in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, to pay their final respects to the late elder statesman and Ijaw legend, Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.
The solemn ceremony drew traditional leaders, government officials, and citizens from across Nigeria, all united in celebrating the life of the revered nationalist who passed away at the age of 97.
Reflecting on the immense legacy of Pa Clark, High Chief Ayebi described him as “a towering figure of integrity, courage, and unwavering commitment to the cause of the Niger Delta and Nigeria.” He highlighted Pa Clark’s relentless advocacy for minority rights and regional development as a beacon that will continue to inspire future generations.
“Pa Clark lived for the people. His voice echoed the struggles and aspirations of the Ijaw nation and all oppressed minorities in Nigeria. Today, we honour a hero and father figure whose legacy will forever remain alive,” High Chief Ayebi stated.
The Ondo Liaison Office of PAP joined the national mourning, standing in solidarity with the family of the departed leader, the Ijaw nation, and the entire Niger Delta region.
Special appreciation is extended to the Administrator of the PAP, High Chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro, Ph.D., for his steadfast leadership and unwavering support in mobilizing the regional offices to participate fully in honouring the great Ijaw patriarch. His commitment to preserving the values Pa Clark stood for remains a guiding light within the amnesty framework.
