On Friday night, gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked a bus traveling from Anambra State to Owo on the Ifon/Owo road in the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State. The attack resulted in the death of two passengers and the abduction of several others, including members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Among the abducted was Adewole Paul Oluwaseun, a corps member returning from the NYSC camp in Enugu. Eyewitness Oluwaseun Ogunmola reported that the bandits have demanded a ransom of N30 million from the family of one of the victims.

The driver of the vehicle and a young woman seated at the front were shot during the attack. Their bodies have been taken to a private hospital morgue in Ifon town.

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and is actively investigating. The exact number of those abducted is still unknown, but authorities are committed to ensuring their safe return.

“We are working diligently to secure the release of the kidnapped individuals and are following all leads to bring those responsible to justice,” Odunlami-Omisanya assured.
