Governor Similayi Swears in 23 Elected Council Chairmen in Rivers State
Rivers State Governor, Similayi Fubara, has officially sworn in the newly elected 23 local government chairmen in a ceremony held today at the Government House in Port Harcourt. The chairmen, who emerged victorious in the recent local government elections, took their oath of office in the presence of government officials, traditional leaders, and supporters.
Governor Similayi, while addressing the gathering, congratulated the chairmen and urged them to prioritize development projects and good governance in their respective areas. He emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and fostering unity among their constituents.
“As leaders closest to the people, you have a duty to listen to their needs, implement impactful policies, and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of your local government,” Governor Similayi said.
The swearing-in ceremony marks a new phase in the state’s grassroots governance, with hopes of improved infrastructural development, security, and social welfare programs across the 23 local government areas.
In his closing remarks, the governor also charged the chairmen to work in synergy with the state government to achieve set development goals and maintain peace in the state.
The event witnessed a large turnout of dignitaries, local government workers, and well-wishers.
