Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced that he will proceed on a three-week medical leave beginning Monday, 18 August 2025, to address health concerns.
The disclosure was made in a statement issued by the Commissioner of Information, Bala Salisu Zango. According to the statement, Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal, popularly known as Sarkin Fulanin Jobe, will serve as Acting Governor during Radda’s absence to ensure the smooth running of state affairs.
“To ensure seamless governance and continued leadership, Deputy Governor Lawal has been designated to lead the state during my medical leave,” Governor Radda stated.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Katsina State for their prayers and support, noting that prioritising his health is necessary for him to continue serving effectively.
“Taking the necessary steps to prioritise my health is essential so I can continue to serve effectively and make the best decisions for our state. I look forward to returning to my duties as soon as I finish my medical check-up,” he said.
Governor Radda also reaffirmed his trust in his deputy’s capacity to steer the affairs of the state with dedication and competence.
“I am confident that the Deputy Governor will lead and manage the affairs of the state with the same dedication and commitment,” he added.
He concluded by pledging to return with renewed energy to serve the people of Katsina State after his medical leave.
