GOVERNOR DIRI PAYS TRIBUTE TO MAMA KEKETOBOU KUKU, DESCRIBES HER PASSING AS GREAT LOSS TO IJAW NATION

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has paid glowing tribute to the late Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku, describing her death as a profound loss to Arogbo Kingdom and the entire Ijaw nation.

Governor Diri spoke during the funeral ceremony held in Arogbo town, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, where family members, traditional rulers, political leaders, and well-wishers gathered to honour the late matriarch.

In his remarks, the Governor described Mama Keketobou as a devoted mother and respected Ijaw woman whose life of service and dedication to her people would not be forgotten.

“We have lost a great mother who cared deeply for her children. Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku was a remarkable Ijaw woman whose contributions to the Ijaw nation are invaluable. Her passing is a painful loss and a setback to our people. I urge her children to accept this loss in faith, trusting that God has called her home in His wisdom,” the Governor stated.

The funeral rites, currently in their third day, featured a funeral service, interment, and reception at Covenant Place in Tolukiribou Egbesubiri Quarters, Arogbo. The ceremonies drew dignitaries from across Ondo State and beyond, reflecting the esteem in which the deceased was held.

Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku, who lived to the age of 90, was remembered as a woman of strong Christian faith, humility, compassion, and commitment to family and community. She passed away on October 14, 2026.

She is survived by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including High Chief (Dr.) Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku, former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, who expressed gratitude to all those who supported the family throughout the funeral arrangements.

The ceremonies will conclude with a Thanksgiving and Outing Service, alongside the formal dedication of Covenant Place in Arogbo.
