Farewell to a Matriarch: Mama Keketobou’s Funeral Rites to be Held in Lagos, Akure, and Arogbo
The families of GBAMILA and KUKU have announced the funeral arrangements for their beloved matriarch, Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku (née GbAMILA), who passed away peacefully at 90.
Mama Kuku, born in 1935, left a lasting legacy of motherhood, faith, and community service. The family expresses gratitude for her fulfilled life and shares a five-day burial programme across Lagos, Akure, and Arogbo in Ondo State.
In a statement released by the family, they expressed gratitude to God for a fulfilled life and unveiled a five-day burial programme scheduled to hold across Lagos, Akure, and Arogbo in Ondo State.
Funeral Programme
The funeral rites will commence on Thursday, 12th February, 2026, with a Social Wake scheduled for 7:00pm till dawn at Didi Mall by Borrowed Pit, adjacent Shoprite, Sangotedo, Ajah Lekki, Lagos, with musical performance by Young King Iralatei Toikumoh.
Activities will continue on Thursday, 19th February, 2026, with another Social Wake from 4:00pm to 12:00 midnight at Dedola Event Place, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State. The event will feature performances by King Karinto Fokitei & His Settlement Band of Africa, alongside Erenatei Toikumoh.
On Friday, 20th February, 2026, the body will depart First Mercy Specialist Hospital’s Morgue, Gbagi, Akure, between 6:30am and 7:30am, en route to Arogbo Town, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State. A Social Wake will later hold from 8:00pm till dawn at Covenant Place, Tolukiribo Egbesubiri Quarters, Arogbo, with music by King Pereama Freetown.
The Funeral Service is slated for Saturday, 21st February, 2026, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at First African Church Mission, Egbesubiri Quarters, Arogbo, Ondo State, after which interment will follow immediately. A grand reception will take place from 4:00pm to 10:00pm at Covenant Place, featuring Chief Barrister S. Smooth, popularly known as The Paddle of Niger Delta.
The burial ceremonies will be rounded off on Sunday, 22nd February, 2026, with a Thanksgiving and Outing Service from 10:00am to 2:00pm at First African Church Mission, Arogbo. Guest gospel ministers include Prince Debo Ojubuyi (King of Zion Tunes), accompanied by Saxophonist Jeremiah. The final reception will hold from 4:00pm to 10:00pm, with music by Jnr. King Alfred Izonebi.
At 8:00pm, an appreciation session will be led by son of the deceased, SHC (Hon.) Dr. Kingsley Kemebradigha ha Kuku, Esq., The Agbagbatuwa Pouye (The Mighty Rock) of Arogbo-Ijaw Kingdom, Ondo State.
The family concluded with a heartfelt tribute: Good Night Mummy, You Will Forever Be in Our Hearts.
Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku is survived by children, grandchildren, great-grand children, and half-blood siblings.
