Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that although Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on paper, he has “unofficially” joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in a video shared by TV Platinum, Sowore said he is unsure if Fubara will formally defect to the APC, but insisted that the governor has accepted conditions set for his return to office amid recent political tensions in the state.

“Fubara has already joined APC unofficially. I don’t know if he will join officially, but whether it is official or unofficial, just know that Fubara is only going back as governor because he has agreed to whatever conditions they gave to him. He has capitulated,” Sowore stated.

According to him, the development means that Rivers State is now politically under APC control, including both its votes and resources.

“They have already captured Rivers State, not only the votes there but the resources which is very important. That is what they are after,” he added. Sowore’s remarks come amid ongoing political realignments in Rivers State, following months of disputes between the governor and key political figures in the state.
