Fubara also extended his appreciation to his supporters and Nigerians at large for standing by him during the political upheaval, acknowledging their prayers and loyalty. He encouraged them to understand that while protests can express discontent, they are not always sufficient to resolve complicated political issues.

He apologized to anyone who may have been disheartened by how he managed the crisis, explaining that his decisions were made with the goal of preserving the peace and development of Rivers State. Reassuring his supporters, he expressed confidence in a peaceful resolution, stating, “There is no reason why there won’t be peace between me and my oga,” referring to his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Fubara revealed that since the President’s involvement, various peace talks had taken place, including meetings at Wike’s home. Although he expressed regret at being unable to commission new projects on the symbolic date of May 29, he remained thankful for the outpouring of support demonstrated during the event in his honor.

President Tinubu had earlier placed Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and the Rivers State House of Assembly on a six-month suspension in response to the prolonged political unrest in the state.
