After due consideration and a long term of hike in food prices the Federal Government have begun the selling of rice at a subsidized rate from thursday. Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, announced the initiative as part of various programs aimed at providing relief to Nigerians. Represented by Mrs. Toyin Ayo-Ajayi, the ministry’s State Director, Kyari mentioned that multiple Federal Government agencies would monitor the distribution to ensure transparency and security.

To purchase 50kg of rice for N40,000, individuals need a National Identification Number (NIN) and an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card. Kyari praised Governor Dapo Abiodun for his commitment to the welfare of the state’s citizens, noting that Ogun is among the first states to benefit from this program due to the governor’s effective leadership.

Kyari encouraged citizens to support government efforts to appreciate these initiatives. Governor Abiodun highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to addressing food inflation and improving livelihoods, expressing gratitude for the President’s dedication to the agricultural sector and food security.
