It emphasized their shared cooperation in areas such as good governance, sustainable development, and the fight against terrorism and extremism.
The statement reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing its strategic partnership with the U.S. under President Trump’s leadership, aiming to benefit both nations and their citizens. It also expressed optimism for continued collaboration in addressing global challenges and promoting mutual growth.
The statement read, “The Federal Republic of Nigeria congratulates President Donald Trump on his successful inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. Nigeria and the United States have collaborated in various areas of mutual interest, particularly in promoting good governance, sustainable development, and combating terrorism and violent extremism. Nigeria looks forward to further strengthening our historic, strong, and vibrant partnership for the benefit of all our people.”

Trump was sworn in as president on Monday in a ceremony held in the Capitol Rotunda due to bad weather. CNN reported that he took the oath of office from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, pledging to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.
