In a move to maintain order in the Federal Capital Territory, the former governor of River state and current Minister of the Federal capital territory, Abuja, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike, has announced that the FCT will not be a venue for the planned hunger protests on August 1st.

Wike emphasized that the FCT has other commitments on that day, including a significant ceremony to honor local leaders.

The minister urged protesters to explore alternative dates and venues for their demonstrations.

While acknowledging the public’s right to express discontent, Wike stressed that any form of protest must adhere to the law and respect the rights of others.

He called on Nigerians to work together to find solutions to the country’s challenges, saying, “We understand the difficulties faced by citizens, but we must approach them with patience and collective effort.”

During a visit to the Saburi community, Wike encouraged residents to remain calm and avoid participating in the protests.

He promised to enhance the community’s security and healthcare infrastructure, including the construction of a new police station and primary healthcare center.
