Excellence Rewarded: PAP Students Stand Out in Competitive Courses Nationwide
At least 32 students sponsored by the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) have graduated with first-class honours in 2025 from universities across Nigeria, while 134 others secured second-class upper division degrees in a wide range of disciplines.
The graduates distinguished themselves in highly competitive fields including law, pharmacy, aeronautical engineering, cybersecurity, electrical and mechanical engineering, software engineering, nursing science, architecture, accounting and criminology.
Other areas of study include computer science, anatomy, international relations and diplomacy, geography and regional planning, microbiology, public health, information technology, medical laboratory science, estate management and mass communication.
Reacting to the development, the Administrator of PAP, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro, praised the beneficiaries for what he described as exceptional academic accomplishments, noting that their results reflect discipline, commitment and focus.
He said the impressive performance of the students demonstrates that the scholarship initiative is delivering on its core objective of empowering young people from the Niger Delta through education and capacity building.
According to Otuaro, the achievements represent another milestone for the programme and reinforce its broader mission of fostering sustainable development and stability in the region through human capital investment.
He further stated that the success of the scholars validates the Federal Government’s continued funding of the scheme, adding that the beneficiaries have made their families, communities and the Niger Delta region proud.
The PAP Administrator also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the administration’s backing has played a vital role in sustaining the programme and enabling beneficiaries to thrive academically.
He equally recognised the oversight provided by the Office of the National Security Adviser, describing it as instrumental to the smooth implementation of the initiative.
Otuaro encouraged other students currently benefiting from the PAP scholarship to remain dedicated to their studies and strive for academic excellence, stressing that outstanding performance would open greater opportunities for them and contribute positively to the region’s development.
The Presidential Amnesty Programme was established as part of efforts to promote peace and long-term socio-economic growth in the Niger Delta, primarily through educational sponsorship, vocational training and other empowerment strategies.
The statement was issued on February 11, 2026, by Mr Igoniko Oduma, Special Assistant on Media to the PAP Administrator.
